Memory Palace
part of ‘Thai New Wave: Multiple Planes’
curated by Mary Pansanga
Bangkok Art & Culture Centre (BACC)
6 July - 9 September 2018

6 room models: UV print on wood and acrylic, floor-plan: UV print on acrylic, mahogany wood holder
room models: varying with 3 sizes of scales (1:20, 1:30, 1:40), floor-plan: 42 x 30 cm

The work is part of 'Multiple Planes,' an exhibition that presents photography as a 'device' to construct works, in terms of its materials, processes, and notions, that relate to photography in various dimensions; the artists making 'images' as ideas rather than as representations. I'm interested in Memory Palace, an imaginary location in your mind where you can store mnemonic images. One of the simplest ways to create Memory Palace, a remembering technique, is by using the familiar place or location to store images and to recall those memories, which involves making a journey through those places.
